Engineering a Sustainable Chemical Future

We apply advanced chemical engineering to support the global transition toward a green and sustainable future — decarbonizing industries, enabling circular economies, and driving clean energy innovation.

What We Work On

Sustainable Chemical Technologies

Innovations that drive decarbonization, embed circular economy principles, and improve resource efficiency through cleaner production methods and closed-loop material flows.

DecarbonizationCircular EconomyGreen Chemistry

Our work in sustainable chemical technologies spans the full breadth of process redesign — from raw material selection to end-of-life treatment. We develop catalytic and separation processes that minimize energy consumption, reduce waste generation, and enable closed-loop material cycles. Applications include industrial wastewater valorization, bio-based feedstock conversion, and carbon capture integration into existing process trains.

Catalysis & Reaction Engineering

Design, synthesis, and characterization of catalytic systems — from mechanistic lab-scale study to full reactor engineering, process optimization, and scale-up.

Heterogeneous CatalysisReactor DesignKinetics

We cover the complete lifecycle of catalytic process development: novel catalyst synthesis (metal oxides, supported metals, zeolites, perovskites), characterization (BET, TPR/TPD, XRD), kinetic modelling, and scale-up to pilot reactors. Our reactor engineering expertise covers fixed-bed, fluidized, and monolithic configurations, with emphasis on selectivity engineering and deactivation mitigation.

Plasma Science & Technology

Plasma is an exotic, high-energy environment that enables synthesis of high-quality materials and precise chemical reactions impossible with conventional methods.

Plasma SynthesisReactive EnvironmentsMaterials Processing

We develop and operate low-pressure plasma systems for surface treatment, thin-film deposition, and nanomaterial synthesis. Our expertise spans DBD (dielectric barrier discharge), RF, and microwave plasma configurations. Plasma processing enables us to control surface energy, functionalization, and composition with high selectivity — particularly valuable for functional coatings and catalyst activation.

Nanomaterials

Harnessing nanoscale phenomena for next-generation technologies. As Feynman noted, there is plenty of room at the bottom — Polus works to fill it with functional, engineered materials.

NanoparticlesSurface ScienceAdvanced Materials

We engineer nanoscale materials with precisely controlled morphology, composition, and surface chemistry for applications in catalysis, sensing, and energy conversion. Synthesis routes include chemical vapor deposition, wet chemical methods, and plasma-assisted processes. We characterize structure and properties using electron microscopy, spectroscopy, and surface area analysis, enabling us to close the loop between synthesis and performance.

Ozone Treatment & Abatement

Applied ozone technology for water treatment, air purification, and controlled abatement systems — leveraging ozone as a powerful, targeted oxidant.

Water TreatmentAir QualityAdvanced Oxidation

Ozone is among the most powerful oxidants available for water and air treatment. We design ozone generation, injection, and contact systems for applications ranging from drinking water disinfection to industrial effluent treatment and VOC abatement. Our work includes ozone decomposition catalyst development — a critical component for safe, efficient ozone abatement in enclosed environments.

Computational Transport Modeling

CFD and numerical analysis for momentum, heat, and mass transport — mathematical models validated against experimental data to solve multiphysics problems.

CFDHeat TransferMass Transport

We build and validate multiphysics computational models that capture the coupled interplay of fluid flow, heat transfer, and chemical reaction in complex reactor and process geometries. Our modeling supports design optimization before hardware commitment, reducing development cost and accelerating time-to-prototype. We work in both open-source (OpenFOAM, FEniCS) and commercial (COMSOL, Fluent) environments.

Fuel Cells & Electrocatalysis

PEM and SOFC system development, plus electrocatalytic routes to olefins, ammonia, and syn-gas from CO₂ and water — producing valuable chemicals with high selectivity.

PEM Fuel CellsSOFCCO₂ Utilization

We develop membrane electrode assemblies (MEAs) and full-stack PEM fuel cell test rigs, including custom diagnostic hardware. On the SOFC side, we work on cathode/anode materials and cell sealing for high-temperature systems. Our electrocatalysis work targets CO₂ electroreduction to fuels and chemicals — including ethylene, formate, and ammonia via electrochemical N₂ reduction — using advanced transition metal catalysts.
