Green Ammonia Project
We are developing a small-scale green ammonia plant that runs on Haber-Bosch, coupled with electrolysis and air separation. Unlike the very large scale and very high-pressure ammonia synthesis, the design, operation, and efficiency of modular plants have not yet been established. A thorough understanding of green ammonia synthesis at a small scale can enable an ammonia economy, where ammonia is produced in a distributed fashion so that emissions due to transportation are minimized and ammonia is used either as a fertilizer or a fuel.
Modular and Target-Oriented Mass Spectrometer Systems
Mass spectroscopy is an important technique for gas detection and compositional studies on different gas mixtures. Mass spectrometers are utilized in different experimental systems, gas leak detection, and process control and optimization studies. At Polus, we work on developing high-end mass spectroscopy instruments for special applications. We make designs to integrate mass spectroscopy to different experimental systems, factories, build gas and leak sensing equipments using mass spectrometers, and utilize mass spectrometers to applications with special requirements.
Pumping gas to very high pressure
High-pressure compression is a vital process in propulsion and energy storage. Reciprocating compressors are one of the most prominent devices to reach gas pressures up to 1000 bar. We are currently developing a computational framework to assist in the design and manufacture of multistage reciprocating compressors with desired flow rates and operation pressures.
